CopenPay event

CopenPay: Plogging for free coffee and pastries - help keep Copenhagen's harbourfront free of litter

Join Arp-Hansen and Wonderful Copenhagen as we maintain the city's waterfront, free of litter on July 2nd at 7 AM.

Participate in plogging, a blend of exercise and environmental stewardship. There will be bags and gloves and as a token of appreciation for your green efforts, we offer free coffee and a Danish pastry.

The event is for everyone, whether you prefer to run or walk. And afterwards those in need of a refreshing dip are more than welcome to take the plunge in Copenhagen's clean harbour water.

About CopenPay:

The purpose of CopenPay is to encourage sustainable behaviour and enrich the cultural experience of visitors and residents in Copenhagen by transforming green actions into currency for cultural experiences.

The concept: Visitors and residents can redeem rewards by showing proof of green actions, such as train tickets or bicycles.

The initiative was launched last Summer by Copenhagen’s official tourism organisation, Wonderful Copenhagen. It ran for four weeks, during which participants could earn rewards by riding a bike, taking public transport, or perhaps collecting rubbish. The rewards included access to complimentary guided museum tours, free kayak rentals, and free vegetarian lunches made from local crops.

This year, CopenPay will run for two months over the Summer and include three times as many attractions, experiences, hotels, etc. To welcome our congress, Wonderful Copenhagen has organised a customised CopenPay activity just for a limited number of participants (max. 100).

Maybe you already know CopenPay? Last year the concept generated over 1,400 articles and mentions in the media worldwide, many of which highlighted the innovative approach to sustainability and tourist inclusion. The media covering CopenPay included the BBC, New York Times, Forbes, Time Magazine, Le Figaro, and CNN.
